OSRS Star Tracker tells you when a shooting star lands at a location you have chosen in Old School RuneScape. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, what it does not, and who it shares data with.
We do not ask for your name, your email, your RuneScape account, or your location. We do not know who you are. The app sends our server only a list of the landing sites you picked and a push notification token.
Two Google services do collect more than that, and both are described in full below: Google Analytics for Firebase collects app usage and device information, and Google AdMob collects an advertising identifier in order to show ads.
When you enable alerts, the app registers with our backend and sends:
That is the complete list of what reaches our server. We never receive your chunk layout, your RuneScape username, your position in game, or your timezone. (Google's analytics and ad services collect their own information directly, as described below.) Quiet hours are converted to UTC on your device precisely so the server never learns what timezone you are in.
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used in aggregate, for example how many people open it and which screens get used. This helps us decide what to improve.
This collects an app instance identifier along with device and usage information such as your device model, operating system version, and general region. It is not tied to your name, your email, or your RuneScape account, because we never collect those.
Google's handling of this data is governed by their privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
The app shows banner ads from Google AdMob.
⚠️ AdMob collects an advertising identifier (the Android Advertising ID) in order to serve ads. This is standard for ad-supported apps and it is the most significant data collection here. AdMob may also collect device and usage information for ad delivery and fraud prevention, governed by Google's own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android's Settings → Privacy → Ads.
In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent form before any ad loads. The advertising SDK is not started at all until that consent step completes — if you decline, no ads are requested.
| Processor | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Cloud Messaging | Your FCM token, and the notification content | To deliver push notifications |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | App instance id, device and usage information | To understand aggregate app usage |
| Google AdMob | Advertising identifier, ad interaction data | To show ads |
| Cloudflare | Standard request metadata including your IP address | Our backend sits behind Cloudflare |
Star data itself comes from the Star Miners community project. We fetch that data from their public feed; they receive nothing about you, and the app never contacts them directly.
Your registration is kept while the app is installed and alerts are enabled. Notification history used to prevent duplicate alerts is deleted automatically after six hours.
To delete everything we hold about your device: turn alerts off in the app, or uninstall it. If you want your registration removed from our server sooner, contact us at the address below with no identifying information required — we can only act on a token, so include the request and we will purge registrations on request.
OSRS Star Tracker is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes materially, the app will be updated and the date at the top will change.
